KNOW THE COST.
SEE THE VALUE.
A website quote should make sense. Here’s how to read what you’re paying for.
A practical website buying guide
The useful question is not simply how much a website costs. It is what the price includes, what you need to contribute and what you will pay after launch. This guide explains those decisions using our published offer as a concrete example, rather than claiming a universal Australian market average.
Compare the same job.
Two quotes can describe very different websites.
Page and content scope.
Check the page list, the amount of content and the number of unique layouts. Five pages with supplied copy is a different project from a large site with original research and writing.
Design and development.
Ask whether the work includes custom design, template configuration, responsive implementation and agreed browser testing.
Editing and integrations.
Confirm which areas you can edit and which tools need connecting. A simple enquiry form differs from a customer portal or payment workflow.
Responsibilities and review.
Find out who supplies copy and images, how feedback works and what happens when approved work changes.
Two routes. Clear scope.
A core website for $6,000. Bespoke projects scoped individually.
Our core website is $6,000 AUD + GST for a defined marketing-website scope: up to five core pages, custom design and development, light editing of supplied copy, agreed CMS areas, forms and search foundations.
Bespoke projects are planned around more involved requirements. Content volume, different audiences, migration, technical dependencies and review stages all affect the scope and fee.
We confirm responsibilities, deliverables and investment in writing. If substantial discovery is needed before the build can be quoted, we agree that stage and its fee first.

Ownership still comes with upkeep.
Budget for hosting, the domain and any paid third-party services your site needs. Someone also needs to maintain the software, watch for problems and handle content changes.
Standard Managed Care for eligible websites we build is $150 AUD + GST per month. It includes managed hosting, monitoring, maintenance, CMS help and one small change to existing content each month. Bigger changes are separately scoped.
Explore Managed Care| Scenario | Calculation | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Core build only | $6,000 | $6,000 |
| Core build + 12 months of care | $6,000 + (12 × $150) | $7,800 |
| Core build + 36 months of care | $6,000 + (36 × $150) | $11,400 |
Count your time too.
A lower invoice may mean more work on your side.
A DIY website can be a sensible choice if your needs are straightforward and you have time to learn the tool, organise the content and maintain the result. Hiring a designer moves some of that work to a specialist, but your input still matters.
Compare the whole arrangement: cash cost, your time, the flexibility you need and the support you will use. Build-only totals exclude ongoing hosting, domains and services. Care totals exclude domains and paid third-party services not included in the agreement.
